First, a belated Happy Mother's Day to everyone. I hope that you had a wonderful one full of spoiling and pampering!
I woke up to some gorgeous flowers, beautiful cards and a phone call from my mother in law asking if I was watching the weather. I had been asleep but the rolls of thunder had woken me up a bit. When the phone started ringing I knew it couldn't be good. My husband is a volunteer fire fighter so after talking to my mother in law I immediately turned us radio up so that I could hear weather reports. Sure enough, after only 5 minutes, the reports started coming over. I woke him up because I knew if anything serious came about he would have to be there to help (well that and I hate bad weather and I was terrified).
Within 30 minutes of waking up, a tornado had touched down only a mile from my mother in law and dear friend. My friend actually woke up to our phone call and the tornado sirens going off. The tornado, an F2, tore through parts of our city, killing two and injuring others. My husband worked the area for most of the day, trying to help those who had been affected by the destruction of it. My heart, my prayers and my thoughts go out to those whose lives have been turned upside down by this. I know how frightened I was for my mother in law and friend - I can't imagine what was going through the minds of those who were in the direct path of the tornado. I am praying for you and thinking of you all.
